Abstract
Adaptation is the process of changing of an organism or population to different environmental conditions, which is based on the need to preserve functions while changing the structural connections of the environment, which impede the normal functioning of the system. The objects of the study were people adapting to high mountain conditions (68 people) and mountaineers living at an altitude of 2800 m above sea level. Human life in the mountains ensures the body’s adaptation to the environment, determining the interaction of regulatory, plastic and nonspecific components of adaptation. At the same time, nonspecific adaptive changes mobilize protective regulatory mechanisms, maintaining an adequate level of homeostatic constants in the body of highlanders.
